The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.69.12

काकतालीयतो विष्णुरेवंकर्मोदितः पुरा ।
एवंकर्मा त्रिनयन एवंकर्माम्बुजोद्भवः ॥ १२ ॥

kākatālīyato viṣṇurevaṃkarmoditaḥ purā |
evaṃkarmā trinayana evaṃkarmāmbujodbhavaḥ || 12 ||

It was on the impulse of the occasion that the God Vishnu, engaged himself in action, and so did the God with the three eyes (i.e. Siva), as also the God that was born of the lotus.
