The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.14.37

यः प्रवृत्तः कुबुद्धीनां दयावान्दुःखमार्जने ।
स्वगतच्छत्रनिर्मृष्टसूर्यांशु खिद्यते नभः ॥ ३७ ॥

yaḥ pravṛttaḥ kubuddhīnāṃ dayāvānduḥkhamārjane |
svagatacchatranirmṛṣṭasūryāṃśu khidyate nabhaḥ || 37 ||

The kind-hearted man, who wishes to remove the sorrows of the ignorant by his advice, attempts an impossibility, as that of shrouding the all-pervasive sunshine, by means of his umbrella.
