223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.41.17

अप्रेक्ष्यमाणा स्फुरति प्रेक्षिता सु विनश्यति ।
मायेयमपरिज्ञायमानरूपैव वल्गति ॥ १७ ॥

aprekṣyamāṇā sphurati prekṣitā su vinaśyati |
māyeyamaparijñāyamānarūpaiva valgati || 17 ||

Unobserved it rushes to our view, but being examined with attention, it flies upon keen observation. We know it is a phantasm, and yet find it appearing with its dimensions and figures before us.
