The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.39.21

अर्धव्युत्पन्नबुद्धेस्तु नैतद्व्यक्तं हि शोभते ।
दृश्यानया भोगदृशा भावयन्नेव नश्यति ॥ २१ ॥

ardhavyutpannabuddhestu naitadvyaktaṃ hi śobhate |
dṛśyānayā bhogadṛśā bhāvayanneva naśyati || 21 ||

But the half-educated are not fit to receive spiritual instruction, because their view of the visibles, which dwells on obvious objects, proves the cause of their ruin.
