The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.35.29

अम्लं मधुरसासिक्तं मधुरं मधुरञ्जितम् ।
बीजं प्रतिविषाकल्कसिक्तं च कटु जायते ॥ २९ ॥

amlaṃ madhurasāsiktaṃ madhuraṃ madhurañjitam |
bījaṃ prativiṣākalkasiktaṃ ca kaṭu jāyate || 29 ||

So sour becomes sweet by mixture with sugar, and the bitter seed produces sweet fruits by being sown with honey. So on the contrary, sweet becomes bitter by intermixture of gall and wormwood.
