The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

चापले प्रसरस्तस्मादन्तर्येन नदीयते ।
मनोविलयमादत्ते तस्यालान इव द्विपः ॥ ६२ ॥

cāpale prasarastasmādantaryena nadīyate |
manovilayamādatte tasyālāna iva dvipaḥ || 62 ||

He who does not give indulgence to levities and fickleness in his heart, is sure to subdue his mind; as one binds an elephant by its chain to the post.
