The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.77.20

इहामुत्र च नाशाय मूढो दुःखाय जीवति ।
यत्नाद्विनाशनीयोऽसौ नानर्थः परिपाल्यते ॥ २० ॥

ihāmutra ca nāśāya mūḍho duḥkhāya jīvati |
yatnādvināśanīyo'sau nānarthaḥ paripālyate || 20 ||

The lives of the unlearned (said she), are verily for their perdition in this world and the next; it is therefore meet to put an end to these, rather than leave them to live to their peril in both worlds.
