The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.48.23

कृतप्रतिकृतैरेवं बाणवर्षैर्महीपती ।
व्यर्थीकृतैरनयतां प्रहारमविचारणैः ॥ २३ ॥

kṛtapratikṛtairevaṃ bāṇavarṣairmahīpatī |
vyarthīkṛtairanayatāṃ prahāramavicāraṇaiḥ || 23 ||

Both the kings being thus baffled in their aims by the opposing arms, which were indiscriminately let loose against one another, laid hold on more potent missiles.
