Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. एष हि ज्वलमानोऽग्निर्लेलिहानो महीरुहान् ।
द्वेष्यं हि हृदि संतापं जनयत्यशिवं मम ॥ १६ ॥

eṣa hi jvalamāno'gnirlelihāno mahīruhān |
dveṣyaṃ hi hṛdi saṃtāpaṃ janayatyaśivaṃ mama || 16 ||
