Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तं तथावादिनं दीनं विलपन्तं महीपतिम् ।
गावल्गणिरिदं धीमान्महार्थं वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥ १६२ ॥
