IV. 1. 82), all the three words in which continue further on, and become valid in every rule upto the end of the second pada of the fifth adhyaya; cf. समर्थानां प्रथमाद्वा । त्रयमप्यधिक्रियते समर्थानामिति च प्रथमादिति च वेति च । स्वार्थिकप्रत्ययावधिश्चा-यमधिकारः । प्राग्दिशो विभक्तिरिति यावत् । स्वार्थिकेषु ह्यस्य उपयोगो नास्ति । विकल्पोपि तत्रानवस्थितः । (samarthānāṃ prathamādvā | trayamapyadhikriyate samarthānāmiti ca prathamāditi ca veti ca | svārthikapratyayāvadhiścā-yamadhikāraḥ | prāgdiśo vibhaktiriti yāvat | svārthikeṣu hyasya upayogo nāsti | vikalpopi tatrānavasthitaḥ |) Kas. on P.IV.1.82.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas.
