Samarthādhikāra (समर्थाधिकार).—The province or the jurisdiction of the rule समर्थानां प्रथमाद्वा (samarthānāṃ prathamādvā) (P. IV. 1. 82), all the three words in which continue further on, and become valid in every rule upto the end of the second pada of the fifth adhyaya; cf. समर्थानां प्रथमाद्वा । त्रयमप्यधिक्रियते समर्थानामिति च प्रथमादिति च वेति च । स्वार्थिकप्रत्ययावधिश्चा-यमधिकारः । प्राग्दिशो विभक्तिरिति यावत् । स्वार्थिकेषु ह्यस्य उपयोगो नास्ति । विकल्पोपि तत्रानवस्थितः । (samarthānāṃ prathamādvā | trayamapyadhikriyate samarthānāmiti ca prathamāditi ca veti ca | svārthikapratyayāvadhiścā-yamadhikāraḥ | prāgdiśo vibhaktiriti yāvat | svārthikeṣu hyasya upayogo nāsti | vikalpopi tatrānavasthitaḥ |) Kas. on P.IV.1.82.
