Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarMātrac (मात्रच्).—A tad. affix in the sense of measure applied optionally with द्वयस (dvayasa) and दघ्न (daghna) to a noun e.g. ऊरुमात्रम् प्रस्थमात्रम् (ūrumātram prasthamātram) ; cf. प्रमाणे द्वयसज्दघ्नञ्मात्रचः (pramāṇe dvayasajdaghnañmātracaḥ) P. V.2.37 and Kasika thereon which remarks that द्वयस (dvayasa) and दघ्न (daghna) are applied in the sense of height, while मात्र (mātra) is applied in the sense of any measure: cf. प्रथमश्च द्वितीयश्च ऊर्ध्वमाने मतौ मम (prathamaśca dvitīyaśca ūrdhvamāne matau mama) Kas. on P. V.2.37.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
