The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

ताम्रारुणा लोहितविन्दुचित्राः खट्वाङ्गहस्ता हरिधूम्रकेशाः ।
लम्बस्रजो वारणलम्बकर्णाश्चर्माम्बराश्चैव निरम्बराश्च ॥ २१ ॥

tāmrāruṇā lohitavinducitrāḥ khaṭvāṅgahastā haridhūmrakeśāḥ |
lambasrajo vāraṇalambakarṇāścarmāmbarāścaiva nirambarāśca || 21 ||

Copper-red, covered with red spots, bearing clubs in their hands, with yellow or smoke-coloured hair, with wreaths dangling down, with long pendulous ears like elephants, clothed in leather or wearing no clothes at all;
