This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 91.20

तं खलु वो न स्मरथ विपर्यस्ताहो मारिष ।
राक्षसीनां तथ भक्षा नचिरेण भविष्यथ ॥ २० ॥

taṃ khalu vo na smaratha viparyastāho māriṣa |
rākṣasīnāṃ tatha bhakṣā nacireṇa bhaviṣyatha || 20 ||

“O my friends, what is this you do? Do you not remember, or are you perverse? If you act so, you soon will become meat for ogresses. (20)
