This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 48.8

ते देवराज अवचू करुणं रुदन्तं मा रोद शाक्यकुलनन्दनजातराग ।
वक्ष्यामि ते अवितथावचनं विजालं आनन्दजानि उपजानय त्वं सुखानि ॥ ८ ॥

te devarāja avacū karuṇaṃ rudantaṃ mā roda śākyakulanandanajātarāga |
vakṣyāmi te avitathāvacanaṃ vijālaṃ ānandajāni upajānaya tvaṃ sukhāni || 8 ||

The lords of the devas said to the piteously weeping king, “Do not weep, you whose affection brings joy to the house of Shakya. I shall tell you the truth without guile. Stir up within you the bliss that is born of joy. (8)
