This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 19.27

तस्य माता पिता चैव जीर्णा दण्डपरायणा ।
धीतरम् एवम् आहन्सु कुसुमे पुत्रि हे शृणु ॥ २७ ॥

tasya mātā pitā caiva jīrṇā daṇḍaparāyaṇā |
dhītaram evam āhansu kusume putri he śṛṇu || 27 ||

Her mother and father were infirm with age, and leaning on their staffs. And they spoke and said to their daughter, “Kusuma, dear child, listen. (27)
