[197.004]. apīdānīṃ varṇākṛtiliṅgasthairyamasya nirīkṣamāṇā na tṛptimupayānti sma/
[197.005]. yasmiṃśca samaye rājā candraprabho mahāyajñavāṭaṃ gacchati, tasmin samaye prāṇikoṭīniyutaśatasahasrāṇyavalokayanti, evaṃ cāhuh--devagarbho batāyaṃ rājā candraptabha iha jamudvīpe rājyaṃ kārayati/

[200.015]. yāvadāptaṃ ca te hiraṇyasuvarṇamanuprayacchāmi, yena te putrapautrāṇāṃ jīvikā bhaviṣyati/
[200.016]. kiṃ te devasya śīrṣeṇa majjāśiṅghāṇakavasādipūrṇeneti? evamukte raudrākṣo brāhmaṇo mahācandramagrāmātyamidamavocat--na ratnamayairme śirobhiḥ prayojanam/

[200.018]. api tvahamasya mahāpṛthivīpālasya sarvaṃdadasya sakāśamāgataḥ śiraso'rthāya/
[200.019]. evamukte mahācandramahīdharau agrāmātyau kare kapolaṃ dattvā cintāparau vyavasthitau--kimidānīṃ prāptakālamiti/
[200.020]. athaitadvṛttāntamupaśrutya rājā candraprabho mahācandramahīdharau agrāmātyau dūreṇa prakrośyaitadavocat--ānīyatāmeṣa matsamīpam/

[200.022]. evamukte mahācandramahīdharau agrāmātyau sāśrudurdinavadanau karuṇakaruṇaṃ paridevamānau abhirudya devasya maitrātmakasya kāruṇikasya sattvavatsalāsyānekaguṇasamuditasya jñānakuśalasya divyacakṣuṣo'nityatābalaṃ pratyupasthitam, adyāsmākaṃ devena sārdhaṃ nānābhāvo bhaviṣyati vinābhāvo viprayogo visamyogaḥ/
[200.025]. iti viditvā rājñaḥ pādayor nipatya ekānte niṣaṇṇau/
[200.025]. atha rājā candraprabhaḥ paramatyāgaprativiśiṣṭaṃ tyāgaṃ parityakukāmo dūrata eva taṃ brāhmaṇamāmantrayate--ehi tvaṃ brāhmaṇa, yacchatām yat prārthayase tadgṛhāṇeti/
[200.027]. atha raudrākṣo brāhmaṇo yena rājā candraprabhastenopasaṃkrāntaḥ/
[200.028]. upasaṃkramya rājānaṃ candraprabhaṃ jayenāyuṣā ca vardhayitvā rājānaṃ candraprabhamidamavocat--
[200.029]. dharme sthito'si vimale śubhabuddhisattva sarvajñatāmabhilaṣan hṛdayena sādho/
[200.031]. mahyaṃ śiraḥ sṛja mahākaruṇāgracetā mahyaṃ dadasva mama toṣakaro bhavādya//7//

[201.001]. [201] atha rājā candraprabho brāhmaṇasyāntikādidamevamrūpaṃ vākpravyāhāraṃ śrutvā pramuditamanāḥ prītivisphāritākṣo raudrākṣaṃ brāhmaṇamuvāca--hantedaṃ brāhmaṇa śiro'vighnataḥ sādhu pragṛhyatāmuttamāṅgamiti/

[201.004]. priyo yathā yadyapi caikaputrakastathāpi me kharpamidaṃ gṛhāṇa/

[201.008]. yadā ca rājā candraprabheṇa śiraso maulirapanītaḥ, tatsamanantarameva sarveṣāṃ jambudvīpakānāṃ manuṣyāṇāṃ maulayaḥ patitāḥ/
[201.010]. bhadraśilāyāṃ ca rājadhānyāṃ caturdiśamulkāpātā diśodāhāśca prādurbhūtāḥ/
[201.010]. nagaradevatābhiśca śabdo niścāritah--asya rājñaścandraprabhasya pāpabrāhmaṇo śiraśchetsyatīti/
[201.011]. tacchrutvā mahācandramahīdharau agrāmātyau rājñaścandraprabhasyedamevamrūpaṃ śarīraparityāgaṃ viditvā sāśrudurdidavadanau rājñaścandraprabhasya pādau pariṣvajyāhatuh--dhanyāste puruṣā deva ya evamatyadbhutarūpadarśanaṃ drakṣyantīri/
[201.014]. tau abhimukhamudvīkṣyamāṇau rājani candraprabhe cittamabhiprasādya raudrākṣe ca brāhmaṇe maitryacittamutpādya nāvāṃ śakṣyāmo nirupamaguṇādhārāsya devasyānityatāṃ draṣṭumiti tasminneva muhūrte kālagatau/
[201.016]. kāmadhātumatikramya brāhmalokamupapannau/
[201.016]. rājñaścandraprabhasyedamevamrūpaṃ vyavasāyaṃ buddhvā tāṃ ca nagaranivāsinīnāṃ devatānāmārtadhvanimupaśrutya bhaumā yakṣā antarikṣacarāśca yakṣāḥ krinditumārabdhāh-- kaṣṭamidānīṃ rājñaścandraprabhasya śarīranikṣepo bhaviṣyatīti//
[201.019]. atrāntare ca rājakuladvāre'nekāni praṇiśatasahasrāṇi saṃnipatitānyabhūvan/
[201.019]. tato raudrākṣo brāhmaṇastaṃ mahājanakāyamavekṣya śiro grahītum/
[201.021]. yadi ca te śiraḥ parityaktam, ekāntaṃ gacchāva iti/
[201.022]. evamukte rājā candraprabho raudrākṣaṃ brāhmaṇamavocat--evaṃ mahābrāhmaṇa kriyatām/
[201.023]. ṛddhyantāṃ tava saṃkalpāḥ, paripūryantāṃ manorathā iti/
[201.023]. atha rājā candraprabho rājā āsanādutthāya tīkṣaṇamasimādāya yena maṇiratnagarbhamudyānaṃ tenopasaṃkrāntaḥ/
[201.024]. atha rājā candraprabhasya idamevamrūpaṃ vyavasāyaṃ dṛṣṭvā bhadraśilāyāṃ rājadhānyāmanekāni prāṇiśatasahasrāṇi vikrośamānāni pṛṣṭhataḥ pṛṣṭhataḥ samanubaddhāni/
[201.026]. so'drākṣīdrājā candraprabho mahājanasaṃnipātaṃ vikrośāntam/
[201.026]. dṛṣṭvā ca punaḥ samāśvāsayannāha--apramādaḥ karaṇīyaḥ kuśaleṣu dharmoṣviti/
[201.027]. saṃkṣepeṇa dharmadeśanāṃ kṛtvā raudrākṣaṃ brāhmaṇamādāya maṇiratnagarbhamudyānaṃ praviṣṭaḥ/
[201.028]. samanantarapraviṣṭasya rājñaścandraprabhasya maṇiratnagarbha udyāne bhadraśilāyāṃ chatrāṇi dhvajapatākāśca yena maṇiratnagarbhamudyānaṃ tenāvanāmitāḥ/
[201.029]. tato rājā candraprabho maṇiratnagarbhasyodyānasya dvāraṃ pidhāya taṃ taṃ raudrākṣaṃ brāhmaṇamāmantrayate--pratigṛhyatāṃ brāhmaṇa mamottamāṅgamiti/
[201.031]. evamukte raudrākṣo brāhmaṇo rājānaṃ candraprabhamuvāca--nāhaṃ śakṣyāmi devasya śiraśchettumiti/
[201.032]. maṇiratnagarbhasya codyānasya madhye kurabakaḥ/
[201.032]. tatra sarvakālikaścampakavṛkṣo[202] jātaḥ/

[202.001]. tato rājā candraprabhastīkṣṇamasiṃ gṛhītvā yena sarvakālikaścampakavṛkṣastenopasaṃkrāntaḥ/
[202.002]. atha devatāstasminnudyāne'dhyavasitāḥ, rājñaścandraprabhasyedamevamrūpaṃ svaśarīraparityāgaṃ viditvā vikroṣṭumārabdhāḥ/
[202.003]. evaṃ cāhuh--kathamidānīṃ tvaṃ pāpabrāhmaṇa rājñaścandraprabhasyādūṣiṇo'napakāriṇo mahājanavatsalasyānekaguṇasampannasya śiraśchetsyasīti? tato rājā candraprabha udyānadevatā nivārayati-- devatā mama śiroyācanakasyāntarāyaṃ kuruta/
[202.006]. tatkasya hetoh? bhūtapūrvaṃ devatā mamottamāṅgam yācanakasya devatāyā antarāyaḥ kṛtaḥ/
[202.007]. tayā devatayā bahu apuṇyaṃ prasūtam/
[202.007]. tatkasya detoh? yadi tayā devatayā antarāyo na kṛto'bhaviṣyat, mayā laghu laghvevānuttarajñānamadhigatamabhaviṣyat/
[202.008]. ataśca tvāmahamevaṃ bravīmi-- me tvamuttamāṅgayācanakasyāntarāyaṃ kuruṣveti/
[202.009]. asminneva te maṇiratnagarbha udyāne mayā sahasraśaḥ śiraḥparityāgaḥ kṛtaḥ, na ca me kenacidantarāyaḥ kṛtaḥ/
[202.010]. tasmāt tvaṃ devate mamottamāṅgayācanakasyāntarāyaṃ kuru/
[202.011]. eṣa eva devate sa pṛṣṭhībhūto maitreyo yo vyāghryā ātmānaṃ parityajya catvāriṃśatkalpasamprasthito maitreyo bodhisattva ekena śiraḥparityāgenāvapṛṣṭhīkṛtaḥ/
[202.013]. atha devatā rājñaścandraprabhasya maharddhitāmavetya tasmin rājani paraṃ prasādaṃ pravedayantī tūṣṇīmavasthitā/
[202.014]. atha rājā candraprabhaḥ samyakpraṇidhānaṃ kartumārabdhah--śṛṇvantu bhavantaḥ, ye daśādikṣu sthitā devatāsuragaruḍagandharvakinnarā adhyuṣitāḥ, ihāhamudyāne tyāgaṃ kariṣyāmi, asmiṃs tyāgaṃ svaśiraḥparityāgam yena cāhaṃ satyena svaśiraḥ parityajāmi, na rājyārthāya na svargārthāya na bhogārthāya na śakratvāya na brahmatvāya na cakravartivijayāya nānyatra kathamahamanuttarāṃ samyaksambodhimabhisambuddhya adāntān sattvān damayeyam, aśāntāñ śamayeyam, atīrṇāṃstārayeyam, amuktān mocayeyam, anāśvastānāśvāsayeyam, aparinirvṛtān parinirvāpayeyam/
[202.020]. anena satyena satyavacanena saphalaḥ pariśramaḥ syāt, parinirvṛtāsya ca sarṣapaphalapramāṇadhātavo bhaveyuḥ, asya ca maṇiratnagarbhasyodyānasya madhye mahān stūpaḥ syāt sarvastūpaprativiśiṣṭaḥ/
[202.022]. ye ca sattvāḥ śāntakāyā mahācaityaṃ vanditukāmā gaccheyuḥ, te taṃ sarvastūpaprativiśiṣṭaṃ dhātuparaṃ dṛṣṭvā viśrāntā bhaveyuḥ/
[202.023]. parinirvṛtasyāpi mama caityeṣu, janakāyā āgatya kārāṃ kṛtvā svargamokṣaparāyāṇā bhaveyuriti/
[202.024]. evaṃ samyak praṇidhānaṃ kṛtvā tasmiṃścampakavṛkṣe śikhāṃ baddhvā raudrākṣaṃ brāhmaṇamuvāca--āgaccha mahābrāhmaṇa, pratigṛhyatām/
[202.026]. me vighnaṃ kuruṣveti/
[202.027]. tato rājā candraprabha ātmanaḥ kāyasya sthāma ca balaṃ ca saṃjanya tasmiṃśca brāhmaṇe karuṇāsahagataṃ maitracittamutpādya śiraśichattvā raudrākṣāya brāhmaṇāya niryātitavān/
[202.028]. kālaṃ ca kṛtvā atikramya brahmalokaṃ praṇītatvācchubhakṛtsne devanikāye upapannaḥ/
[202.029]. samanantaraparityakte rājñā candraprabheṇa śirasi ayaṃ trisāhasramahāsāhasro lokadhātus triḥ kampitaḥ saṃkampitaḥ saṃprakampitaḥ, calitaḥ saṃcalitaḥ saṃpracalitaḥ, vyadhitaḥ pravyādhitaḥ saṃpravyādhitaḥ/
[202.031]. gaganatalasthāśca devatā divyānyutpalāni kṣeptumārabdhāḥ, padmāni kumudāni puṇḍarīkānyagarucūrṇāni tagaracūrṇāni candanacūrṇāni tamālapatrāṇi divyāni [203] māndāravāṇi puṣpāṇi, divyāni ca vādyāni pravādayitmārabdhāḥ, cailavikṣepāṃśca cākarṣuḥ/

[203.002]. tato raudrākṣo brāhmaṇaḥ śirograhāyodyānānnirgataḥ/
[203.002]. athāsminnantare'nekaiḥ prāṇiśatasahasrair nādo muktah-- kaṣṭam/
[203.003]. praghātito devaḥ sarvajanamanorathaparipūraka iti/
[203.003]. tata ekatyāḥ pṛthivyāmāvartante parivartante, eke bāhubhiḥ prakrośanti, kāścit prakīrṇakeśyo rudanti/
[203.004]. anekāni ca prāṇiśatasahasrāṇi saṃnipatitāni/
[203.005]. tata ekatyāstasminneva pradeśe sthitvā dhyānānyutpādya tatraiva kālaṃ kṛtvā śubhakṛtsne devanikāye upapannā rājñaścandraprabhasya sabhāgatāyām/
[203.006]. apare dhyānānyutpādya tatraiva kālaṃ kṛtvā bhāsvare devanikāye upapannāḥ/
[203.007]. apare prathamadhyānamutpādya kālaṃ kṛtvā brahmalokasabhāgatāyāmupapannāḥ/
[203.008]. aparaiḥ saṃnipātya rājñaścandraprabhasya śarīraṃ sarvagandhakāṣṭhaiścitāṃ citvā, dhmāpitāni ca asthīni sauvarṇakumbhe prakṣipya, caturmahāpathe śarīrastūpaḥ pratiṣṭāpitaḥ/
[203.010]. chatradhvajapatākāścāropitāḥ/
[203.010]. gandhairmālyairdhūpairdīpaiḥ puṣpaiḥ pūjāṃ kṛtvā candraprabhe rājani svacittamabhiprasādya kālagatāḥ ṣaṭsu devanikāyeṣu kāmāvacareṣu deveṣūpapannāḥ/
[203.012]. yaiśca tatra kārāḥ kṛtāḥ, sarve te svargamokṣaparāyaṇāḥ saṃvṛttā iti//
[203.013]. syātkhalu yuṣmākaṃ bhikṣavaḥ kāṅkṣā vimatirvā anyā tena kālena samayenottarāpathe bhadraśilā nāma rājadhānyabhūditi/
