The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.17.18

प्रतिभासवशादस्ति नास्ति वस्त्ववलोकनात् ।
दीर्घस्वप्नो जगज्जालमालानं चित्तदन्तिनः ॥ १८ ॥

pratibhāsavaśādasti nāsti vastvavalokanāt |
dīrghasvapno jagajjālamālānaṃ cittadantinaḥ || 18 ||

It is in its ideality, that anything appears as existent, which in reality is inexistent, though it is apparent to sight. The existence of the world, is as that of a lengthened dream; and the visible world is a wide spread snare of the mind, like fetters at the feet of an elephant.
