Verse 3.8.17
Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 3.8.17:
सिद्धे तु साधनाकाङ्क्षा कृतार्थत्वान्निवर्तते ।
न क्रियावाचिनां तस्मात् प्रयोगस्तत्र विद्यते ॥ १७ ॥siddhe tu sādhanākāṅkṣā kṛtārthatvānnivartate |
na kriyāvācināṃ tasmāt prayogastatra vidyate || 17 ||17. Once a thing is accomplished, the purpose being fulfilled, there is no more requirement of an accessory. There is, therefore, no use of verbs in such cases.
Commentary
[In regard to a thing which is already accomplished, verbs cannot be used. It is nouns which express such things.]
