अ॒भि यं दे॒वी निॠ॑तिश्चि॒दीशे॒ नक्ष॑न्त॒ इन्द्रं॑ श॒रद॑: सु॒पृक्ष॑: । उप॑ त्रिब॒न्धुर्ज॒रद॑ष्टिमे॒त्यस्व॑वेशं॒ यं कृ॒णव॑न्त॒ मर्ता॑: ॥
अभि यं देवी निॠतिश्चिदीशे नक्षन्त इन्द्रं शरदः सुपृक्षः । उप त्रिबन्धुर्जरदष्टिमेत्यस्ववेशं यं कृणवन्त मर्ताः ॥
abhi yaṃ devī nirṛtiś cid īśe nakṣanta indraṃ śaradaḥ supṛkṣaḥ | upa tribandhur jaradaṣṭim ety asvaveśaṃ yaṃ kṛṇavanta martāḥ ||
English translation:
“Indra, the upholder of the three regions, whom the divine Nirṛti acknowledges as ruler, whom abundantyears pass over, whom mortals detain from his own abode, approaches to (recruit) his decaying strength.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Theupholder: upa tribandhu jaradaṣṭim eti: trayāṇām lokānām bandhaka;
Jaradaṣṭim = jīrṇam raśanamyasya balasya hetubhūtam tad balam upagacchati, he approaches that strength of which or of whose strength itis the cause;
