Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. This portion also contains the Bhagavad-Gita. Alternative titles: Mahābhārata (महाभारत).

दृष्ट्वा च तां सभां दिव्यां दिव्यपुष्पफलान्विताम् ।
अश्वांस्तित्तिरकल्माषान्रत्नानि विविधानि च ॥ १२ ॥

dṛṣṭvā ca tāṃ sabhāṃ divyāṃ divyapuṣpaphalānvitām |
aśvāṃstittirakalmāṣānratnāni vividhāni ca || 12 ||
