nanu vedoktanānāphalatyāgena niṣāmatayeśvarārādhanaviṣayā vyavasāyātmikā buddhiḥ kubuddhirevetyāśaḍkyāha yāvāniti | udakaṃ pīyate yasmiṃstadudapānaṃ vāpīkūpataḍāgādi | tasmin svalpodaka ekatra kṛtsnārthasyāsambhavāttatra tatra paribhramaṇena vibhāgaśo yāvān snānapānādirarthaḥ prayojanaṃ bhavati tāvān sarvo'pyarthaḥ sarvataḥ saṃplutodake mahāhrade ekatraiva yathā bhavati | evaṃ yāvān sarveṣu vedeṣu tattatkarmaphalarūpo'rthastāvān sarvo'pi vijānato vyavasāyātmikābuddhiyuktasya brāhmaṇasya brahmaniṣṭhasya bhavatyeva | brahmānande kṣudānandānāmantarbhāvāt | etasyaivānandasyānyāni bhūtāni mātrām

na caivaṃ śaṅkanīyaṃ sarvakāmanāparityāgena karma kurvannahaṃ taistaiḥ karmajanitairānandairvañcitaḥ syāmiti | yasmātyāvāniti | udapāne kṣudrajalāśaye | jātāvekavacanam | yāvānartho yāvatsnānapānādiprayojanaṃ bhavati sarvataḥ saṃplutodake mahati jalāśaye tāvānartho bhavatyeva | yathā hi parvatanirjharāḥ sarvataḥ sravantaḥ kvacidupatyakāyāmekatra milanti tatra pratyekaṃ jāyamānamudakaprayojanaṃ samudite sutarāṃ bhavati sarveṣāṃ nirjharāṇāmekatraiva kāsāre'ntarbhāvāt | evaṃ sarveṣu vedeṣu vedokteṣu kāmyakarmasu yāvānartho hairaṇyagarbhānandaparyantas

hanta kiṃ vaktavyaṃ niṣkāmasya nirguṇasya bhaktiyogasya māhātmyaṃ yasyaivārambhaṇamātre'pi nāśapratyavāyau na staḥ | svalpamātreṇāpi kṛtārthatetyekādaśe'pyuddhavāyāpi vakṣyate

na hyaṅgopakrame dhvaṃso
maddharmasyoddhavāṇvapi |
mayā vyavasitaḥ samyaṅ

kintu sakāmo bhaktiyogo'pi vyavasāyātmikabuddhiśabdenocyate | iti dṛṣṭāntena sādhayati yāvāniti | udapāna iti jātyaikavacanamudapāneṣu kūpeṣu | yāvānartha iti kaścitkūpaḥ śaucakarmārthakaḥ, kaściddāntadhāvanārthakaḥ, kaścidvastradhāvanādyarthakaḥ, kaścitkeśādimārjanārthakaḥ, kaścitsnānārthakaḥ, kaścitpānārthaka ityevaṃ sarvataḥ sarveṣudapāneṣu yāvānartho yāvanti prayojanānītyarthaḥ tasminekasminneva śaucādikarmasiddheḥ | kiṃ ca, tattatkūpeṣu pṛthakpṛthakparibhramaṇaśrameṇa, sarovare tu taṃ vinaiva | tathā kūpeṣu virasajalena sarovare tu suramajalenaivetyapi viśeṣo draṣṭavyaḥ
