1) Getraide , in ältester Zeit vermuthlich mehlgebende Körnerfrucht überh. ; in der Folge Gerste , Pl. Gerstenkörner. Zum Spruch yavo si ([Yājñavalkya’s Gesetzbuch 1,230]) und yavo si dhanyarājo si ([Mitākṣarā 1,35,a,16]) vgl. [Vājasaneyisaṃhitā 5,26,d.6,1,d.] ( = [Gobhila's Śrāddhakalpa 2,9]) und [Viṣṇusūtra 48,17] ( = [Baudh 3,6,5.] [Pariśiṣṭa 2,14]). —

2) Gerstenkorn als Maass = 1/6 oder 1/8 ([Agnipurāṇa 39,21) ]Aṅgula , als Gewicht = 6 oder 12 Senfkörner = 1/2 Guñja. —
