1) n. ein lebendes oder übernatürliches Wesen ; eine unkörperliche , geisterhafte Erscheinung , Ding , Spukgestalt. Sg. coll. die Wesen u.s.w. Die Commentatoren erklären das Wort durch yaja , pujā , pujita , pujya und ähnlich. —

2) m. — a) Bez. besonderer Genien im Gefolge Kubera’s (ganz ausnahmsweise auch Viṣṇu's). Gelten für Söhne Pulastya’s , Pulaha’s , der Khasā , der Krodhā , Kaśyapa’s ; sollen aus Brahman’s Füssen entstanden sein und Besessenheit bewirken. — b) Beiname Kubera’s [Varāhamihira’s Yogayātrā 6,1.] — c) Nomen proprium — α) eines Muni. — β) eines Sohnes des Śvaphalka [Wilson's Uebersetzung des Viṣṇupurāṇa 4,95.] — γ) *von Indra’s Palast. —
