(= Pali verika, Sanskrit vairin), enemy: kṣetra-°kā(ḥ), rivals in regard to a field, also vastu-°kā, [Page512-a+ 71] vapra-°kā, Mahāvastu i.16.9 (prose), see s.v. sāpatnaka; susukhaṃ bata jīvāmo vairikeṣu tv avairikāḥ, vairikeṣu manuṣyeṣu viharāmo hy avairikā(ḥ) Udānavarga xxx.47 (= Pali Dhammapada (Pali) 197, where verin(a), averin).
