1) adj. subst. Erzeuger [Manu’s Gesetzbuch 2, 146. 9, 32. 48.] hervorbringend, bewirkend, herbeischaffend: śoṇitotpādaka [4, 168.] arthasthotpādakam (mantriṇam) [Hitopadeśa III, 17.] kautukotpādakaṃ vacaḥ [Kathāsaritsāgara 20, 41.] uttamasya viśeṣeṇa kalaṅkotpādako janaḥ [24, 204.] —

2) m. ein fabelhaftes Thier mit 8 Füssen (śarabha) [Trikāṇḍaśeṣa 2, 5, 2.] [Hemacandra’s Abhidhānacintāmaṇi 1286.] In dieser Bedeutung würde das Wort vielleicht richtiger utpātaka geschrieben werden. —

3) f. utpādikā a) ein best. Insect [Hārāvalī 110] ([Wilson’s Wörterbuch] in der 1sten Aufl.: Floh?, in der 2ten: weisse Ameise). Sowohl [Wilson’s Wörterbuch] [?als Śabdakalpadruma] führen [Trikāṇḍaśeṣa] als Autorität an; hier ( [2, 5, 13]) lautet aber die Form upādika m. und im Ind. upapādikā . Vgl. upadīkā . — b) Name einer Pflanze, nach [Śabdacandrikā] = hilamocikā Enhydra Hingtsha DC. (eine Gemüsepflanze), nach [BHARATA] zu [Amarakoṣa 2, 4, 5, 23] und [Dvirūpakoṣa im Śabdakalpadruma] = pūtikā eine Basella. Auch hier als Variante von upodikā .
