Upapada (उपपद):—(upa + pada) n.

1) ein Wort in untergeordneter Stellung (z. B. eine conjunct. und ein adv. gegenüber einem verb. fin., das Regierte und näher Bestimmende gegenüber dem Regierten und näher Bestimmten), welches als Begleiter eines andern Wortes auftritt: yadvṛttopapadācca [Prātiśākhya zur Vājasaneyisaṃhitā 6, 14.] upapadāprayoge pi [23.] [Pāṇini’s acht Bücher 1, 3, 16. 71. 2, 2, 19. 3, 1, 92. 6, 2, 139.] rājopapadaṃ niśāntam = rājaniśāntam [Raghuvaṃśa 16, 40.] —
