Timiṃgila (तिमिंगिल):—(timim, acc. von timi, + gila) m. [Pāṇini’s acht Bücher 6, 3, 70], Vārtt. 7 nebst Schol.

1) ein grosses fabelhaftes Seeungeheuer (welches sogar den Timi verschlingt) [Amarakoṣa 1, 2, 3, 20.] [Mahābhārata 1, 1208. 1228. 1293. 3, 12081. 5, 3859.] [Bhāgavatapurāṇa 8, 7, 18. 10, 10.] Statt timimiṅgila [Suśruta 1, 206, 17] ist wohl timitimiṅgila zu lesen. —

2) pl. Nomen proprium eines Volkes in Dakṣiṇāpatha [Varāhamihira’s Bṛhajjātaka S. 14, 16] (v. l. tiliṅgila, tileṅgala). sg. der Fürst dieses Volkes [Mahābhārata 2, 1172.]
