Both the drugs, Kākanāsā and Kākādanī are of doubtful identity and were controversial even during the times of Suśruta. The third chapter (guḍūcyādi-varga) of this book contains climbers and creepers (vīrudh). Together with the names Suraṅgī and Kākanāsā, there are a total of thirteen Sanskrit synonyms identified for this plant.
