1) [noun] a kind of flat or bowel-shaped food made the flour of rice, jowar, rāgi, etc., by baking on a pan.
2) [noun] a food baked from a leavened, kneaded dough made with flour or meal, water, yeast, etc.
3) [noun] a kind sweet dish made using rice-flour, jaggery, by frying in oil or ghee.
4) [noun] ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಜಾರಿ ತುಪ್ಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಳು [rotti jari tuppadalli bilu] roṭṭi jāri tuppadalli bīḷu (prov.) (an unexpected event) to lead to one’s advantage; 'his bread fell in to honey'.
