Prāṇadhāraṇa (प्राणधारण):—(1. prāṇa + dhā) n. das Aufrechterhalten des Lebensathems, Erhaltung —, Fristung des Lebens: svadhiṣṭhyānāmekadeśe manasā ṇam [Bhāgavatapurāṇa 3, 28, 6.] mātreṇa śakyaṃ kartuṃ tapastvayā [Mahābhārata 14, 2748. 673. 680.] [Harivaṃśa 1204.] paścāccakre sā ṇam sie sorgte für die Erhaltung des Lebens d. i. nahm Speise zu sich [Rāmāyaṇa 2, 96, 37] (dhāraṇā [105, 36] [Gorresio]). sa bhūyaḥ saṃśayo jātaḥ sītāyāḥ ṇe so v. a. ob sie lebt [3, 63, 6.] nikṣiptaṃ hi mukhe ratnaṃ na kuryāt ṇam [Spr. 1328.] mama kāyena ṇaṃ kṛtvā [Pañcatantra 71, 7. 236, 21.] Mittel zur Erhaltung des Lebens: evaṃ bhānumayaṃ hyannaṃ bhūtānāṃ ṇam [Mahābhārata 3, 139.] nopalebhe ṇamātmanaḥ [Rāmāyaṇa 3, 34, 17.]

1) n. — a) das Aufrechterhalten des Lebensathems , Erhaltung — , Fristung des Lebens , das am Leben Bleiben oder — Sein. Acc. mit kar Act. Jmd am Leben erhalten , mit kar Med. für die Erhaltung seines Lebens sorgen , so v.a. Speise zu sich nehmen. — b) Mittel zur Erhaltung des Lebens.
