Pradakṣiṇa (प्रदक्षिण):——

1) Adj. (f. ā) — a) rechtsläufig. — b) zu Jmds Rechten stehend. In Verbindung mit kar oder pra-kar einem Gegenstande seine Rechte zukehren (als Zeichen der Hochachtung) , mit doppeltem Acc. — c) von günstiger Vorbedeutung , günstig [Hemādri’s Caturvargacintāmaṇi 1,434,9.] tasya sarvaṃ pradakṣiṇam dem gebt Alles gut von Statten. — d) Jmd die Rechte zukehrend. so v.a. ehrerbietig.

2) pradakṣiṇam und pradakṣiṇa Adv. — a) nach der rechten Seite hin , von der Linken zur Rechten so dass die Rechte einem Gegenstande zugekehrt ist (ein Zeichen der Hochachtung). Mit kar und pra-kar einem Gegenstande (Acc.) die Rechte zukehren. — b) nach Süden hin.

3) f. ( ā) und n. das Zukehren der rechten Seite , das Umwandeln von links nach rechts. Der Gegenstand , dem die Hochachtung erwiesen wird , steht im Gen. oder geht im Comp. voran ; in Verbindung mit kar oder steht er im Dat. , Gen. oder Loc.
