Parvatavāsin (पर्वतवासिन्):—(pa + vā)

1) m. Gebirgsbewohner [Varāhamihira’s Bṛhajjātaka S. 19, 12.] —

2) f. vāsinī a) Narde (ākāśamāṃsī) [Rājanirghaṇṭa im Śabdakalpadruma] — b) Beiname der Durgā: uttare śikhare devi bhūmyāṃ parvatavāsini . brahmayonisamutpanne gaccha devi mamāntaram .. iti śyāmāpūjāyāṃ visarjanamantraḥ .. [Śabdakalpadruma] Derselbe mantra, mit der geringen Abweichung yathāsukham st. mamāntaram am Ende, wird ebendas. als yajurvedīyagāyatrīvisarjanamantra bezeichnet und als Beleg für die Bed. gāyatrī angeführt.
