Paisā.—used in Hindi, Bengali, etc., for pāvīsā or pāda-viṃśaka- (vimśopaka); ‘a copper coin’; ‘money’; also a land measure. Note: paisā is defined in the “Indian epigraphical glossary” as it can be found on ancient inscriptions commonly written in Sanskrit, Prakrit or Dravidian languages.
