Kṣatrabandhu (क्षत्रबन्धु):—(kṣatra + ba) m. ein Angehöriger des Fürstenstandes, der zweiten Kaste: ā ṣoḍaśādbrāhmaṇasya sāvitrī nātivartate . ā dvāviṃśātkṣatrabandhorā caturviṃśaterviśaḥ .. [Manu’s Gesetzbuch 2, 38. 127.] [Mahābhārata 13, 3111. 4814.] [Benfey’ Chrestomathie aus Sanskritwerken 23, 28.] [Rāmāyaṇa 1, 56, 3. 2, 106, 19.] [Bhāgavatapurāṇa 9, 18, 5.] [Mārkāṇḍeyapurāṇa 8, 74.] [Vāyupurāṇa] und [Matsyapurāṇa] in [Viṣṇupurāṇa 467, Nalopākhyāna 17.] Nach einem Schol. zu [Amarakoṣa] ein elender Kṣatriya (ein Kṣatriya der Geburt aber nicht der Handlungsweise nach) und so übersetzt [BURNOUF] das Wort [Bhāgavatapurāṇa 1, 16, 23. 18, 31. 34.] Diese Nebenbedeutung scheint das Wort auch [Rāmāyaṇa 6, 67, 23] (kṣatrabandhuḥ sa cānāryo rāmaḥ paramadurmatiḥ).
