Goṣṭhaśva (गोष्ठश्व):—(goṣṭha + śva = śvan) m. ein Mensch, der wie ein Hund in der Kuhhürde Niemand ruhig an sich vorübergehen lässt, [Trikāṇḍaśeṣa 3, 1, 5] (goṣṭhaśca). [Hemacandra’s Abhidhānacintāmaṇi 477.] [Jaṭādhara im Śabdakalpadruma] Nach der unkritischen Erklärung des [Scholiast] zu [Pāṇini’s acht Bücher] : = goṣṭhe + aśva; der alte Grammatiker hat aber offenbar das Richtige gesehen, da er in der Regel nur solche compp. zusammengestellt hat, welche die Eigenthümlichkeit zeigen, dass der letzte Bestandtheil, welcher ausserhalb der comp. consonantisch auslautet, hier auf a ausgeht.
