Source: What is India: Annual Report on Indian Epigraphy (1945-1952)Chikkeri is an archaeologically important site situated in Hangal-taluk (Dharwar district, Bombay), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Chikkeri there is a damaged stone set up in the village which seems to record a gift of land to Bīragāuṃḍa. Hosahali is mentioned and is dated Śaka 1457 (1535 A.D., June 25).
This inscriptions belongs to king Tailapa of the Western Chālukya dynasty and is dated Śaka 903.
