Schirm, Schutzwehr; sicherer Wohnort, = gṛha [das 3, 4.] Gewöhnlich in Verbindung mit yam: cha.diryanta.adābhyam [Ṛgveda 8, 5, 12.] śarma.varma.ccha.dira.mabhyaṃ yaṃsat [1, 114, 5. 6, 15, 3. 46, 9. 12. 7, 74, 5. 8, 27, 20. 74, 5. 10, 35, 12.] a.niṣṭvā.hi pātu ma.yā sva.tyā cha.diṣā.śantamena [Vājasaneyisaṃhitā 13, 19. 14, 12.] Das Wort ist wahrscheinlich auf 1. chad zurückzuführen, also wesentlich identisch mit chadis, wofür auch der Umstand spricht, dass es als Jambus gebraucht wird, z.
