Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationBrahmanuta (ब्रह्मनुत) refers to “one who is eulogised by Brahmā”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.4.1 (“The dalliance of Śiva”).—Accordingly, [commencement of chapter]: “I salute Śiva who is satisfied with salutation, who loves great devotion, who bestows affection, who makes others too perfect and complete and who is the abode of all fortune and achievements. I salute Śiva who is eulogised by Viṣṇu and Brahmā (brahmanuta) [viṣṇubrahmanutaṃ], who urged by His sympathy assumes visible forms, who bestows truth, who loves truth, whose assets are the threefold truths and who is identical with truth”.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences.
