Bodhisattva (बोधिसत्त्व):—[(bo + sa)] adj. dessen Wesen Erkenntniss ist; m. der im Besitz des Wesens der Bodhi Seiende, bei den Buddhisten ein Mensch in dem letzten Stadium auf dem Wege zur Erlangung der vollkommenen Erkenntniss, der Buddha-Würde, [Burnouf 110. 476. fg.] [WASSILJEW 124. fg. 306.] dayālurbodhisattvāṃśaḥ ko nyo jīmūtavāhanāt . śaknuyādarthisātkartumapi kalpadrumaṃ kṛtī ..
