Apāṅkta (अपाङ्क्त).—a. 'Not in the same row or line'; especially one who is not allowed by his castemen to sit in the same row with them at meals; degraded, excommunicated, excluded from or inadmissible into society, an outcast; °उपहत (upahata) defiled by the presence of excommunicated or impious persons. एतान्वि- गर्हिताचारानपाङ्क्तेयान्द्विजाधमान् (etānvi- garhitācārānapāṅkteyāndvijādhamān) (vivarjayet) Manusmṛti 3.167.
