Die Lexicographen ( [Amarakoṣa 2, 9, 2.] [Trikāṇḍaśeṣa 3, 3, 147.] [Hemacandra’s Abhidhānacintāmaṇi 866.] [Anekārthasaṃgraha 3, 237.] [Medinīkoṣa t. 78.]) geben dem Worte anṛta noch die Bedeutung Ackerbau, im Gegensatz zu ṛta Wahrheit, wie [Manu’s Gesetzbuch 4, 5.] das Aehrenlesen bildlich genannt wird, weil dieses den ehrenhaftesten Lebensunterhalt des Brahmanen bildet. Im [MANU] kommt anṛta als bildliche Bezeichnung des Ackerbaues nicht vor, dieser heisst a. a. O. pramṛta gesteigerter Tod. Dagegen wird der Handel ( [6.]) satyānṛta Wahrheit und Lüge genannt. Eine andere Erklärung hat [KUHN] in [Weber’s Indische Studien I, 352.] zu geben versucht; vgl. jedoch [II, 397.]
