Vyakarana (Sanskrit grammar)
Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarĀdit (आदित्).—Possessed of the mute indicatory letter आ (ā) signifying the nonapplication of the augment इ (i) (इट् (iṭ)) to the past-pass. part. term क्त (kta). e. g. क्ष्विण्ण (kṣviṇṇa) from the root ञिक्ष्विदाः (ñikṣvidāḥ) similarly खिन्न, भिन्न (khinna, bhinna) etc. cf. आदितश्र (āditaśra) P.VII. 2.16.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
