Adhobhava (अधोभव) refers to “falling” (from the path to liberation) [?], according to the Kubjikāmata-tantra, the earliest popular and most authoritative Tantra of the Kubjikā cult.—Accordingly, “Once the teacher, who is the Lord of Kula directly apparent and whose form is knowledge, has been abandoned, how can one worship elsewhere? The fool who abandons the blazing fire of Nirvāṇa falls into the other fire (of suffering). One who abandons the teacher who is the abode of the gods falls (adhobhava) (from the path to liberation) [e.g., vrajatyadhobhavaṃ tu saḥ]”.
