This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 97.3

अल्पेच्छः संतुष्टः इतरेतरपिण्डकेन यापेन्तो ।
प्रशमसुखवृंहितमनो न लाभसत्कारं स्पृहयेयं ॥ ३ ॥

alpecchaḥ saṃtuṣṭaḥ itaretarapiṇḍakena yāpento |
praśamasukhavṛṃhitamano na lābhasatkāraṃ spṛhayeyaṃ || 3 ||

My wishes few, may I he content to earn my living with any kind of bowl. My heart fortified with calm and ease, may I not covet gain and honour. (3)
