This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 64.56

गजहस्तसदृशा बाहु आसि तेषां महर्षिणां ।
सिंहपूर्वार्धकाया च न्यग्रोधपरिमण्डला ॥ ५६ ॥

gajahastasadṛśā bāhu āsi teṣāṃ maharṣiṇāṃ |
siṃhapūrvārdhakāyā ca nyagrodhaparimaṇḍalā || 56 ||

“The arms of those great seers were like elephants’ trunks, their busts like those of lions, like the banyan tree in circumference. (56)
