This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 53.63

एते मनोवितर्का वर्तन्ति सो च पेलियशो नाम ।
प्रक्रमति आश्रमपदं मृगपक्षिगणा च सन्त्रस्ता ॥ ६३ ॥

ete manovitarkā vartanti so ca peliyaśo nāma |
prakramati āśramapadaṃ mṛgapakṣigaṇā ca santrastā || 63 ||

While these anxious thoughts passed through his mind, he who was named Peliyasha came to the hermitage. Then were the birds and beasts scared. (63)
